The Battle of the Winter Jumper

I've found myself in a strange position this year. It was this time last year I started entering into the dress size 12-14 range. It was this time last year I found I *had* to start looking at clothes again simply because nothing I had fitted anymore. Gone were the size 28 skirts and tops, never to be seen again. And I sat, staring at a computer screen, google search screen to be exact, wondering where to start. It was this time last year the seeds of starting a blog were sown.

However, in the mouth of Christmas 2011, it really wasn't the time to shop for a new wardrobe so I told myself I'd shop the January sales - I never did.

So I found myself in November 2012 having basically no winter wardrobe. No jumpers, no trousers that fit really, no boots (did you know your feet shrink when you lose weight!?!?), hardly any cosy wear, warm wear. I had picked a couple of bits up during the Summer months because I had to but essentially my wardrobe is shockingly light on winter suitable clothing.

And again, in the mouth of Christmas 2012 it's not really the time to be buying a new wardrobe so I narrowed it down to absolute necessities. First up was a Winter jumper. A good cosy knit that I could wear out and about or cuddled up at home.

I visited all the main stores as well as quite a few independent online retailers and alas I came up empty handed. And I kept coming up empty handed. I'd seen some lovely ones, but as you've guessed Christmas for my son is my priority. So I had a strict budget. £20. It was incredibly difficult to find a good jumper for under that amount.

Upon revisiting Matalan a week ago looking for something else entirely haven given up on my jumper for under £20 search, I came across it. My Winter Jumper.

For some reason this V Neck Slouched Fit Jumper is listed as navy blue colouring. It's not. To me it definitely looks black and dark red :S Which I prefer. I'm really glad it's not navy blue though have no idea why it's listed as such.

I ordered a size 14, it's the right side of baggy and it really is comfy. It's cosy beyond any jumper I've owned and I adore it. It arrived on Wednesday and I put it on as soon as I got it. I could honestly live in it... if I were that way inclined.

So the Winner of the Battle of the Winter Jumper is Matalan offering up this cosy knit for just £16.

*snuggles into cosy warmth*

  4. It's lovely. I do love a winter jumper, next year though I'd thoroughly recommend checking out vintage jumpers. I've got a few mega jumpers that have cost me way under the £20 mark and are quite unique. xx

  7. Wow you've come such a long way in a year! I don't actually have much of a winter wardrobe either. I used to buy so many clothes I never felt right in by the time I got home. Luckily I stay quite warm, so layering a cardi over a dress usually keeps me warm enough.
