Glitter eyes a la Leona Lewis on X Factor

I decided to start Shaking Up My Makeup.

Today is something I never ever wear. GLITTER.

The internet went into a frenzy last Sunday night. Shockingly it wasn't the surprise exit of Carolynne and the diva antics of one Gary Barlow. No, it was Leona Lewis' make up look for the night. Specifically, her eyes. Oh how they sparkled!

As soon as the Quality Street dress jokes subsided the twitterverse went into overdrive trying to find out what eyeshadow Leona was wearing.

Cue the amazingly talented Jane Bradley, make up artist. Jane was the make up artist who worked on Leona last Sunday and she was extremely kind to those of us foaming at the mouth for glittery goodness and told us what product she used to create ALL THE SPARKLE.

Here it is.... *drum roll*

Of course I had to order it!

Yes, it is a liquid gel liner for all essential purposes but look at what happens when you layer it over some brown eyeshadow just as Jane decided to do for Leona

I posted a photo on my Instagram last night and a lot of people were asking questions so here are some FAQ's if you like:

1. How do I apply it?
I simply brushed some light brown shadow onto my lid as I would usually do, I then used black liquid liner as per usual. After my eyeliner had dried I used the paintbrush type applicator of the Glam Crystals Liner to apply the Liner over my eyelid, only to the crease.

2. Does it run?
No, it doesn't run at all. This is always a concern for me as I wear contacts a lot so an incident like that could cause extreme discomfort.

And most importantly....

3. Does it crease?
In order to test this I applied the liner at 6pm last night and kept it on until 1am. Enough time for partying. In those hours I can honestly say the liner didn't crease, nor did it flake off.

I adore it and I'm declaring it the must have eye look for the party season ahead. Although I do want to try it just as a liner as well. Whilst I'm here! I had accidentally dropped a little glob onto the tip of an eyelash last night (wish I'd have gotten a pic) but it seemed to give a very cool glitter tip effect to lashes so I'm going to experiment a little more before I'm done with this amazing product.

Add a dark berry lip to keep right on trend and to finish off your party look

There was one very important question I had of my own...

How hard was it going to be to remove :S

Answer? Not very! Gives it even more appeal.

As good as before any glitter ever went near it!

Thanks for sharing Jane!!

  3. Ooh it looks amazing! I used to wear glitter eyeliners and shadows now and again under my favourite boutique brand closed, but haven't worn one for a while. Love this one, though!

  5. Gorgeous! Jane has been Leona's MUA for years, and created the infamous Bleeding Love look that then catapulted Lauren Luke into stardom when she did her 'take' on it, and the ensuing row (between commenters, not Jane and Lauren) was what made her so famous!

Jane's a clever and versatile MUA, and you're not so bad yourself!
