Look into my eyes

When Best British Bloggers asked me would I want to try coloured contact lenses on behalf of www.getlenses.co.uk, I honestly thought all my Christmases had come at once! For years I've toyed, loosely, with the idea of coloured lenses but just never got round to picking some up.

So I placed my order for the Freshlooks Green & Violet (though now really wish I'd picked brown instead of Violet, might have to take a wee trip back over and pick some up.)

I'm used to wearing contact lenses, in reality I really am blind as a bat. My eyesight is utterly woeful. The contact lenses arrived packaged up the same as any others I receive on a monthly basis (Specsavers) and I couldn't wait to get trying them. You know you'd be the same! These lenses are a tad more fiddly than my usual lenses, they flop around quite easily so you do need a fair amount of concentration but they settle quickly and they're not difficult to get out at all.

I had nearly 100 pictures on my memory card trying to capture these well enough for you. My photography skills aren't excellent so please bear that in mind. Also, in the spirit of full disclosure, none of these images have been edited (bar cropping) or photoshopped, so I hope you see the comparison.

Natural eyecolour: Blue
Quite a deep blue admittedly so I did wonder if the contacts would cover well enough.
Natural eye colour

Green lense to the left of the screen and my natural colour to the right. I was very impressed with the green and I'd definitely restock. Kinda wish I could have green eyes permanently now.

Violet lense to the left of the screen and my natural blue to the right. On my eyes unfortunately the violet just made my vivid blue eyes cloudy, glassy almost. It was a cool effect but not what I had expected.

I'd definitely go back again for the green and I am itching to try the brown asap, from £9.99 (depending on your prescription) it seems to me to be really good value for lenses that can retail elsewhere at £15 upwards.

www.GetLenses.co.uk supply all types of contact lenses and I already have them bookmarked.

  3. I've always wanted to try the freaky cat eye ones but I've an awful phobia of anything touching my eyeball so any and all contacts are out the window! x

  7. I wear normal prescription lenses, but I've never tried coloured ones. I'd like to try violet or grey, I have astigmatism though, so I don't even know if they do them in coloured. x

    1. I use toric lenses too Emma, pain in the derrier! But these didn't sit too uncomfortably at all, they're not as firm as our usual lenses (if yours are anything like mine) though I didn't bother getting prescription coloured ones, just regular.

  9. i've always wanted to try coloured lenses, but a bit scared of lenses in general! Your nature eye colour is lovely, I have very green eyes and I have always wanted blue. May have to get over my fear of putting them in, and taking them out, and give blue a go.

    1. Thank you so much, I've been blessed with quite a vivid blue which thankfully made it's way through to my son's eyes too <3 The lenses aren't too bad, takes a go or two to get used to them but honestly you'll be flying in no time. I can give you a few tips if you need them x

  10. The green suit you with your hair colour. I have brown eyes and I have tried every colour and even the Halloween ones! My faves are soft blue and they give my eyes a lovely aqua blue colour. The violet ones made my eyes look purple. They are fun colours to try and I love when new ones come out. The green ones make my eyes look emerald. x

    1. I had them in for 6.5 hours and found them grand, I did need to use some saline drops but I have to use them with my usual lenses anyway (problem is with my eyes not the lenses) x
