We made a scheduled trip to Coleraine today. Lots of reasons behind it. I was owed a few wee treats and it was that time to attempt further than Ballymoney again. We're working up to trying to make the airshow this weekend in Portrush and also working towards something very special indeed but the groundwork needed put in first. I left the trip to the last minute so I could ride the wave of productivity into the weekend and so far, so good.
I knew where I was going in Coleraine before I got there. It's such a shame to see so many shops being closed / replaced at the moment, it changes every time I go down. I'll say it until I'm blue in the face, I really miss Peacocks. Apart from that you really only have a few gems in Coleraine within a reasonable budget. There's a few shops I'll never set foot in unless there is a massive sale on, which today seemed to be scarce on the ground.
First port of call was Poundland - the budget shoppers dream come true. And the hubby's as they do the Cherry Coke, 3 tins for £1. Win / Win.
I feel I should warn you that Poundland has a Christmas half aisle already :O
Bargain Alert!! The Sally Hansen Hard as Nails for £1! And they seemed to have a good range of colours. I picked up the shade: Time to Shine.
Outdoor Girl pastel polish in purple (original.....) also, a range of outdoor girl cosmetics in stock.
I picked up the Collection 2000 XXL Volumiser Waterproof for just £1 as well! I love these mascaras as they're great for mixing to create huge lashes.
And finally I picked up the Bristows Hairspray. Been needing hairspray for a while but the prices seem to have risen somewhat lately.
That being done I pottered on down to Superdrug. Now I pretty much knew what I was for getting which made it easy but that's not to say I didn't get distracted by sparkle....
These are Barry M Shimmer Pots and they are SO pretty! I can't imagine I would wear such intense shimmer but if you're a fan of that kind of thing you will LOVE these!
Intensely pigmented these come in such a wide range of shades. I've never seen so many shades of shimmer in one eyeline scan and yes, that's my bandjaxed middle finger with the iron man plaster on. I actually trapped it in a door. Typing is agony. I thought I was going to loose the nail, I didn't phew! But there may not be nail swatches for a while as it's naturally now a nice shade of purple...
Speaking of purple here's a wee goody I picked up in Superdrug today
Barry M Nail Paint in Dusky Mauve (313) What can I say. It caught my eye. Looking forward to giving it a go as it looks suitably autumnal.
I couldn't let the Superdrug occasion pass without picking up some MUA Eyeshadows. The lovely Claire over at World of Kitsch had been raving about their shadows so I thought I'd better try them out. I picked up Shade 7, Shade 4, Shade 24 and Shade 30 all in Pearl. Review shortly I would imagine. Hoping they wear better than their lipstick counterparts...
The last item I purchased in Superdrug was this
It's long past time I bought a hair styling implement of any description. This weighed in at £9.99 so I bit the bullet. I am really hoping it works as a good tong.
I then took the opportunity to have a look to see what was about style wise in Coleraine at the moment. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to look at very much. I'm always hesitant and find it so disappointing when I see something there's no way I can have.
First of all is anyone aware of what happened Dorothy Perkins / Burtons? That particular store seems to now be named Blue Inc. Either which way I spied these two beauties in the window and instantly wanted. So much.
I want them both but I do want the horse jumper/dress a little smidge more than the cute little panda. Only because it looks SO cosy. And I want a horse. Mind you, a pony would do ;)
Then I did the unthinkable. I ventured into Topshop and very quickly back out again. Some stores clearly do not bear in mind who their shoppers might be. I, of course, had Riley in the pram. And there was no way of navigating those rails. Not without severing heads or other appendages. Poor show to be honest as half the mannequins had their trousers down around their ankles. Won't be hurrying back. Though, of course I spied a must-have. Btw Topshop prices? WOW.
The jumper weighs in at £36 and the blouse underneath it (with collar) weighs in at £35. So you're talking £71 already. Not a chance for me then.
You can buy similar on Ebay for under £10 plus I already have pearl collars....
Anyway, food for thought certainly.
The day wound down nicely and it was soon time for Fudge cake and Belfast Brew Suki Tea
which is amazing by the way. I need more of this in my life. It's my go to order when out for ''coffee'' these days.
Big leaps ahead. Keep up if you can ;)

ReplyDeleteAwww FANKS! :D Felt all chuffed with myself and all ;) xx
DeleteGreat finds in poundland - that place is amazing! I love the panda jumper more (but horses terrify me so that's maybe why) and I am with you on the Topshop prices! They are ridiculously extortionate, but I did manage to pick up a plain purple skater dress in there yesterday for £20 (full price!) which has to have been the cheapest clutching item on the shop! Have fun at the air show! Xo
ReplyDeletePoundland is lethal though - it's like your mind calculator turns off just because everything is a pound :S not the same when you spend about £20 lol
DeleteNice bargain there!
I'm so into the horses admittedly AND foxes! Love A/W prints!
xx
Hi sera, I wondered if you might do a guide to shopping on eBay? I'm really bad at it and find it really overwhelming plus you seem to always find lovely bargains.

Brilliant idea Rosalie! I will surely! Thanks for the idea lovely xx
DeleteGreat post my lovely! I have such a thing for any kind of animal print at the moment but there's so little available (that's nice) in plus sizes. Anyway, great haul in Poundland! Shopping kudos!

Unfortunately, I thought the OG nail polish in mint was dreadful but at least it was only £1. It was watery and kinda tip-ex like in consistency. I also bought the combi tong in the after Christmas sale and it was rubbish :( Definitely nowhere near 200C or whatever it claims to be! Boo!
