When it was announced (on every news channel / programme) that The Snow was to hit the UK this past week, I grimaced, outwardly. Every fibre of me was screaming ''but it's not Christmas now''. See, to me they go hand in hand. Another media trick of course. All the packaging we see is of snow covered scenery. But after Christmas? That's just unfair. And so I ranted. I rolled my eyes at every Snow Picture I saw. And there were lots. And they just kept on coming.
What's that old saying again?
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em
Riley and Mummy (that's me!)
Riley was able to have his first proper Snow Day. He was so funny to watch when he first stepped out onto the snow covered grass, waddling like a personified Bambi. Of course I cannot omit showing you the obligatory first Snowman (of Riley's, I'm sure you've seen many at this stage)
Riley making his first Snowman
And the creators of the masterpiece together with their shining trophy of childhood snow induced joy
Riley and Daddy (that's the husband) and of course The Snowman (without a name)
We took the opportunity to take some OOTD photos as well, such an efficient bunch aren't we!
So the outfit! The amazing cream and coral fluffy jumper was a gift from my sister, Ruth. A Christmas gift. Oh the irony! It is apparently from a little store in Stockport, Manchester. That's all the information I have on it I'm afraid but I have a point here. Jumpers tucked down skirts. Why not. The strange length of the Dv8 colour block skirt coupled with the jumper (which actually comes down just past my bum) left out over the waistband made me look incredibly short and frumpy. Now, on a good day that's how I look anyway BUT I think making the decision to tuck, in this instance, certainly improved the outfit by miles. This is one of those outfits that take me by surprise. In theory, when I'm putting it together in my head it jars, doesn't sit well but in reality turns out quite fun and nice to wear. The boots came, in very budget friendly style, via Ebay and have helped renew my love for chelsea style boots.
To round up. We had a fun day. We weren't out for long but it was a pleasure to watch my son and his dad make their first Snowman. A cherished memory. I didn't get to help but I enjoyed watching on as they froze their fingers off ;)
One last great thing about the snow, pale gals like me don't need to worry about face makeup. With a pale complexion and the ice cold whipping at your cheeks, the toning and blush are all taken care of! Win!
Hope you've all enjoyed your own Snow Days!
