A Lesson in Lycra

After weeks of my hair getting on my very last nerve I chanced heading out for a while today in order to get it cut. For a while now, after a bad cut at a hairdressers in the town, it's been getting me down. You know yourself when your hair is a bit of a disaster area it really does just throw you off style wise.  Well, out I headed. I'm suffering for it now but! I have a fabulous new hair 'do and it was very much worth it!

I'll be bringing you a more indepth post in regards to my hair shortly, what dye I use, what hairdressers etc. So many of you ask so I'll take you through how I style it.

For now though I wanted to show you the dress I received today from OMG Fashion.

When I saw this dress on www.omgfashion.co.uk my heart sank immediately. Only available in an   8 - 10 or 12 - 14. Usually this wouldn't be an issue but by the looks of the dress in the picture on the site it was going to be SUPER clingy. When that's the case with a garment I would usually order a size up. But in this situation, no can do so I opted for the 12 - 14.

I took a deep breath and hoped for the best when taking it out of the bag today and my stomach fell when I realised just how tiny it looked....

Luckily there is a LOT of stretch with the dress but there is a down side to that amount of stretch. Anyone? Well.... if you stretch a garment you will inevitably lose opaquenes. Yes. The dress became see through..... I made the executive decision to add a black sleeved body underneath the dress.

Ok so here's the verdict.

The dress is priced at £12.00 over at www.omgfashion.co.uk and for younger girls I would say go for it. The sizing on this dress should be a 12 and no more in my opinion. Dual sizing is the devil. I'm glad I tried the dress though as it's totally changed my opinion on the midi length. Someone told me a while ago that short girls like me should avoid this length like the plague. Well, no. No I won't avoid it any longer. I like it. It's a good daytime or evening length.

I chose to style the dress with black tights, black sleeved body and my purple heeled chelsea boots. The only accessories I felt it needed were on my fingers.

Big day! Out for a wee haircut (more to come on that soon), a new dress and a lesson learned in lycra. Midi length can stay, lycra is a big no no for me personally. Well, unless it's in the comfort of my own home never to be seen in public.

That's not to say it's not for you. It's a bargain and in the right age range I'd vote dm style boots and a studded denim jacket for day wear, remove jacket and add some heels whilst tousling your hair for evening. Perfect for college / uni.
