I & K Hair Extensions from Hairtrade

I mightn't have talked about it but it's happened. That age old hair cut regret. I'm just not a short hair person. Plus, anyone who tells you it's easier managed is lying. They have to be. Every day I have to blowdry and straighten or curl. Every day something needs done to it to make it presentable looking. 9 times out of 10 I wake up with hair ALL over the place, sticking up in tufts everywhere (I'm painting a beautiful picture aren't I) Anyway, I yearn. I yearn for luscious long locks. Oh how I yearn.

To say I was hysterically delighted at the prospect of trying hair extensions is probably a huge understatement. There were squeeee's involved.

Hairtrade sent me a list of their extensive product range to choose from and I was so happy to see extensions on the list. I opted to go for the 18" Irish Copper Red I&K Clip in Straight Extensions as they were the nearest colour to my natural copper I could find. Now, as you all know I recently dyed my hair Live XXL red something or other (it's like an addiction :S) so I knew trying to find a match to that red would be impossible. Here's a thought LIVE!! Extensions that match your hair colours.

Anyhow my glorious hair arrived quickly and I sat and read through the instructions, which explicitly told me I should not dye the extensions. Dilemma. Do I take a chance and hope for the best? I figured, since the extensions were real hair the worst I would do is damage the condition a little. I really didn't want to as they are incredibly smooth feeling. Kinda how you'd want your hair to feel like. I took the chance................

Beware the sheer hours of pain in the backsideness you're in for if you do dye extensions. It took quite a while and I was careful the whole way through. Because I didn't dye them whilst they were on my head, blowdrying the extensions was a task and a half.

BUT! I DID IT!!

I was lucky in that it all turned out ok.

Here are my I&K Clip In Straight Hair Extensions from Hairtrade.com (18")

I adore them so completely. They're not too heavy on your head and the clips are manageable enough. These are my very first extensions. Thanks Hairtrade I think I love them!!

Another great thing about these extensions, if you want to curl them or style them in any other way - you can!!! Because they're made up of human hair they should react such as your own hair would.

A little secret? These pictures were taken on Sunday when the prep for the Belfast Telegraph Woman of the Year Awards began! The extensions will be making their debut out tonight! As am I... S'gonna be a biggie! Nails were done last night.... would you like a sneak peek?

Can't wait to tell you all about it! I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed that I get there. All the prep has been done both mentally and physically. It's time.....

See you on the other side ;)

  4. They look great. How do they work exactly? Do you have to take them out every night or are they a semi permanent fixture once you've got them in?

    1. I think they'd be a little uncomfortable to sleep in but I am sure you probably could, you wash and style them with them in (or you can) they work with little comb clips that fasten to your own hair x

  5. Clip in's are so handy, I used them for my wedding to give more body (and hair). Best to get hubby to hold them while blow drying, looks ridiculous, but hey... lol

I went for the chop too and sometimes I really want the length back :(

    How did the awards go?
