Shake Up Your Make Up: Statement Eyes

This is my second Shake Up Your Make Up post and I'm already having great fun!

Today was another ''first'' for me.

Gel Eyeliner

I'm usually a felt tip liquid liner type of gal. Solid in my faith. I usually go for slight flicks to emphasise shape but no more.... usually, however now, well I might just be a convert.

I'm always scared with felt tip liner of taking my flicks to the extreme but today I went for it.

The products I used to create my Statement Eyes

Blank Canvas Lip Defining Brush (yes, it works really well as just that but I wanted a nice thick brush for the eyeliner and this worked amazingly well)

NYC Show Time Volumising Mascara
Ok hold up! This mascara? BRILLIANT! It's priced at £1.99 and here are some photos for your comparison
Does exactly what it says it does!

So yes! I blended the white from the NYC Quattro just under my browline for highlighting. I used the light purple shade as a base to just up past my eyelid crease and I blended the deeper purple into the crease. THEN I applied the Gel Liner.

Et Voila!

The biggest flick I've ever worn. I think I love it. Gel eyeliner is absolutely, hands down, the best way to achieve this kind of flickage! It's just like painting! I may even go even bigger next time...

I'd love to know your thoughts on my Shake Up Your Make Up efforts. Purple statement eye. Is it a winner? Or are we still preferring the glitter eye from yesterday's efforts?

  3. Fabulous!

I find flicks on myself easiest with a felt tip pen, but on clients I use a flat top definer!

Jane Bradley has a DVD out that teaches how to do flicks. It may be on YouTube, but it's foolproof!

  4. Gel eyeliner is amazing for big flicks but lately I've gotten so lazy using my pen eyeliner-I don't know if I'd ever go back! Purple looks beautiful on your eyes :)
