Are We There Yet

A few really cool events coming up this week I wanted to share with you along with my thoughts on quite possibly the most split topic at the moment re: Halloween.

First up though a great event.

Fashion Beauty Lifestyle

Kicking off at 12pm the Fashion Beauty Lifestyle day out is about exactly that. With catwalk shows  to mini beauty makeovers and lifestyle chats it sounds to be quite a fun and relaxed day out.
The Waterfront Hall, Belfast
Sunday, October 28th
12pm - 5pm

You'd have to have your head buried to not know that Halloween is almost upon us. This next event sounds SO much fun!!

Banks of The Foyle Hallowe'en Carnival

Taking place on the banks of the Foyle in Derry this Halloween extravaganza is really not to be missed. Boasting many activities such as ghost tours, spooky shows, Hall of Horrors, Wacky Workshops and of course the amazing Hemingway Shapeshifting Catwalk

Wayne Hemingway, founder of Red or Dead is the creative genius behind this year's Best in Show Catwalk Event. Bringing a smidge of the Twilight story to the event this year by introducing the Shapeshifting theme (sounds amazing!)

If this press image is anything to go by....

 Eeeeeep!

If you'd like to register your interest in entering this competition and a full running schedule you can pop over to the

Creepy Shapeshifting style spotters will be awarding costumes and the winners will strut it out in the catwalk show - FAB!

So, now that's taken care of let me air my Halloween grievance.

Since when did it become the done thing to ''sexy up'' for Halloween? We don't really do Halloween in our house but if it was ever something I was to do I'd be of the persuasion to dress up scary or creepy. Not as a sexy bumble bee or fairy. I mean fairies are lovely! But a fairy isn't going to have me thinking of Halloween....

I had a look online for some Halloween costumes for red heads (being as I am one) and one suggestion kept coming up that I'm sure may be a popular choice this year...

Moira from American Horror Story (or ''Sexy Moira'' as Google informed me)

Sexy? Yes.
Halloweeney? Not in my eyes.

However! If you were determined and really wanted to be the sexy maid for Halloween. Ok. Who am I to say otherwise. May I gently persuade you to do something I would? To Halloween up a costume?

Now *that* would have me thoroughly creeped out!

What will you be dressing up as this Halloween?

  1. This reminds me of Eva Wiseman's column in the Observer this week...

I haven't been able to track down the sexy burger costume she refers to on Google, unfortunately, so that's my Halloween fucked.
