I made it to the Airshow. I didn't have a great time if I'm completely honest but that aside, and I really am putting it to the side, because I met some amazing people who really made today the day it turned out to be.
That's the part I tend to forget. Shielding yourself from people can be a good thing but it can also allow you to retreat so far into yourself that you forget how nice folk can be.
Today I met 6 twitter people. Not all in one go but in drips and drabs. I was having a pretty rough time in between those drips and drabs so it was just brilliant to have real life faces to bring you back out of yourself.
First up it all went wrong this morning when I was getting ready. I had a bit of a to do with my new curling tongs (basically they don't work as well as I'd hoped...) and then there was an incident with a contact lens. Cue swelling of eye, make up running, eye closing, not being able to get the god damned thing out. Horrid. Anyhow I navigated that just about and we headed off.
After a bit we found a spot to sit and watch the couple of planes we stayed for.
I made it up to the lovely Baked In Belfast stall, which had been on my to-do list for ages! Suzanne was very kind and snapped a picture of us as a family (so little of those type of photos so I thought I'd share it!)
You may remember me mentioning Baked in Belfast before here. I featured 2 lovely ceramic brooches a while ago in the post Lovebirds & Owls but alongside the beautiful ceramic ware they offer a range of homemade jams and chutneys. I tried a few at the stall and came home with 3 clinkers I can't wait to get stuck into!
Mulled Plum Jam
Blueberry Smash Jam
Banoffee Jam
Looking forward to breakfast tomorrow!
I also stopped by the Craft Fair and picked up some amazing cakey goodness :D
Sparkle's Cakes & Art were my wee find of the day.
I was delighted to find such yumminess so close to home. All my favourite cake artistes are Belfast based (Cakes and Bakes NI and of course The Lily Pink Bakery) so I was like a hound today when I caught a whiff of the beautiful cupcakes on offer in Portrush from Sparkle's Cakes of Art.
I'll certainly be keeping a close eye on their appearance schedule!
I then met a lovely twitter lady on the way to the car. She knows who she is. Picture the scene, walking to the car discussing the day suddenly, arms around your neck. T'was the best ninja hug in the world.
Headed home, feeling not so fresh anymore and beyond tired. Perked up when we had even more visitors though I'll tell you about those three troublemakers another day ;)
Big day. Been working at this for months to get here. The Airshow. And whilst admittedly I didn't enjoy the show or Portrush as it really was incredibly busy, I did enjoy meeting people I'd befriended online and it warms my heart that online and real life are starting to integrate again. Big leaps pay off, especially when you've kindhearted folk there waiting to hold out a hand and pull you back over the edge. Thanks to those 6 twitter lovelies I met in real life. Good times.
Who else shall I meet on my tentative travels?

Sera, well done you...what a massive achievement. The airshow is not for the faint hearted I know. We generally avoid it as it's so manic and noisy. You look beautiful in the photos and I'm so pleased you had lots of twitter hugs today. You deserved them xx
