Paint by Numbers Femme Fatale

Today I'm bringing you a mini tutorial on yesterday's Dangerous Curves Ahead  Femme Fatale style make up.

Please note this is the way I do my makeup in this style, it may not be the right way but it's the method I use. Remember I do not in any way profess to be an MUA.

For this look I needed to be a bit product heavy (and picture heavy). For someone used to throwing on some liquid liner and mascara it's a far cry from my usual make up routine. However, it's the style I'd go straight to if I'm headed out anywhere....

Products I used
This isn't an exact science and I'm not telling you to go and raid the piggy bank, just substitute where needed!

 Base
Collection 2000 Illuminating Touch Concealer Shade: Naked
Collection 2000 Pressed Powder Shade: Ivory
Sleek Blush Shade: Rose Gold

Your base is essential for creating that smooth, pale powdered look of Film Noir.

Eyes
Snow White Palette (any cream and brown combo will do)
NYC Felt Tip Eyeliner: Black
Bad Gal Benefit Liner: Black
Soap & Glory Thick & Fast Mascara: Black

Lips
Barry M Lipliner Shade: 3
Miners The Matte Factor Lip Paint Shade: Deep Red

And a set of really good brushes! I won a set of Real Techniques Core Collection Brushes from the absolutely glorious Cherry Sue Doin' The Do and they are truly are the bomb. It never ocurred to me before I owned them that make up brushes are really necessary but they make the whole job an actual pleasure! Plus they feel just lovely on your skin.

Anyway yes!

Mandatory ''before'' shot :S

Step 1: Apply Base
Using concealer, hit up your problem areas. For me this is under my eyes, the sides of my nose and my chin. I tend to apply a little concealer over my eyelids as well (although I should really look into primers) I also pop a little concealer around the outer line of my lips (helps with lining!)
Then use your powder. Big swirly motions with your brush concentrating on the areas you know to be blotchy or uneven.
Last but not least apply your blush. Don't be afraid of your blush. I was for years but if you apply it correctly it can really make your make up pop. For this look I apply along my natural cheekbone gradient. Starting from the point nearest my eye/ear area and sweeping down whilst making the most ridiculous face...

Step 2: The Eyes
Again, mighty important for that smoulder!
Using a colour combination such as this:

I use the creamy colour (Destiny in this case) over my whole lid then apply the brown (Battleground) using an angled brush. I brush on the rough shape I want first, like such..

I then extend the shape up past my eyelid crease

Then using your angled brush apply your brown shadow as a line under your bottom lashes as well

Line your inner bottom eyelid with black khol

(we're getting there!)

Now it's liquid liner time. I start from the inner eye out but only go 3/4 of the way across my lash line. I then make a line following the shape of the shadow at the side of my eye then I just join them up and fill them in!

Being very careful apply mascara to your bottom lashes, ensuring if you can that every lash is coated. Then go crazy on the top lashes. As many coats as it takes folks.

Finally! Step 3: The Lips

Line those bad boys (this is where the concealer tip is handy). Do not go outside your lipline. I apply the liner fuller towards the sides leaving more room in the middle of my lips for gloss colour.

Apply your choice of colour

Then simply tousle your hair, add a birdcage netted veil and....

VOILA!

Will you be Femme Fatale-ing it this weekend?
